Vision

Passionately Engaged Affecting Communities Everywhere

The Walk (On the Move for Peace)– It is envisioned that the 13 Moon Peace Walkers will walk into designated cities . Working with the PEACE Host(s) for the specific cities, a walking route will be developed for each city. All walks will be open to communities of people to join us, with a specific focus on youth and families. Walkers will also have designated routes between designated cities.

The PEACE Zone – each community we walk through will be encouraged to establish a PEACE Zone, it could be a garden space, a park, a community green space, etc. We will ask each community to create a PEACE POLE that represents their vision of PEACE. This pole will be ceremonially planted in the PEACE Zone with the community, and its trust of talent, and the 13 Moon Peace Walkers. There will be a bronze plaque placed on each PEACE Pole that designates the PEACE Pole as part of the National 13 Moon Peace Trail. We are currently working to have this trail designated by the park service and the White House as a federally recognized “National PEACE Trail”.

Eco-Mindfulness – The 13 Moon Peace Walkers will travel in a RV/Bus that is a demonstration/learning lab of environmentally sustainable practices that can easily be incorporated in each community.

Community Grass Roots Gatherings – The 13 Moon Peace Walkers will organize community grass roots gathering to dialogue and envision the transformation of their community. This process will be facilitated by the Walkers based on the tools they learned while walking around the world on the Trail of Dreams World Peace Walk. It is based on the simple concept that before we can change anything we have to “see” what we want so clearly that it becomes real and the strategies to initiating this transformation are within each member of the community, not as a struggle against, but as opportunity to engage and create.

Through the Eye of a Child – The 13 Moon Walk for Peace will create the opportunity for selected youth in each community, working with a professional producer, to document the walk through their community, the various processes of engagement that occur, the ceremonies and gatherings, and the dialogues with members of the community. Two things will be done with the footage: (1) Youth will be trained to document events through the development of video and photographic skills; (2) Their work will be live streamed daily on the 13 Moon website and You Tube and will be a major part of the documentary to be produced at the end of the walk.

Feed the Hungry – The 13 Moon Peace Walkers will coordinate with local feed the hungry programs to provide a meal a day for the days that the walkers are in the community.

PEACE Curriculum – is being developed to be shared with communities and schools throughout the walk as walkers conduct speaking engagements at schools, colleges and universities, community organizations and spiritual/religious centers.
